科学をネタに笑っちゃおうっていう発想は実現不可能なのか？今はいわゆる（第３次）お笑いブームらしいので、どの放送局もバラエティー番組が目白押しだ。新人の芸人さんも星の数ほどいて、もう誰が誰だかほとんどわからなくなっているが、深夜番組をちらほら見てなんとなく知識を補充している。くだらない番組も多いが、これだけバラエティー全盛なら、なんとか科学ネタを仕込んだ番組は成り立たないものなのだろうか。
そもそも科学をネタに笑ってしまおうという発想がない。相対性理論を基にコントや漫才を作っても、相対性理論が大体どんなものなのか理解してないとその面白さが伝わらない。サイエンスユーモアを含んだギャグを飛ばしても、苦笑いする人が数％しかいないのでは、お笑いは成立しないだろう。科学を笑い飛ばすには、それなりに科学を知っていなければならないわけだ。しかし、現在これが一つのエンターテイメントとして確立する土台すら、この日本には存在しないじゃないか。
そんな中、政府の連中と来たら、日本の未来は「科学技術」の発展にかかっているとかとおっしゃる。日本の科学技術は国外から輸入するのでしょうか。もう科学を教えるのに手段を選んでいる時間はないのではないか。今後まじめに学校で科学を教えても、現状を短期間で打破することはできないような気がするのだ（そもそも教育改革も起きていないけど…）。
僕はここに一つの提案をします。「サイエンスバラエティー、サイエンスユーモア、サイエンスコメディ」という分野を日本に開拓しよう。科学なんて笑い飛ばしてやれ！しょうもない研究も山ほどあるぜ！お偉い先生方にビビっていないで、ユーモア精神で科学を感動に変換しようじゃないか！科学は分かりにくいから、笑いに変えてしまえ。それが科学的知識を向上させる手段の一つになる日が来ることを願って止まない。っていうより、僕の今後の活動課題だな、これは。
