空間と時間
竹内さんの講義が今日から「ホーキングの宇宙論」となり、今月から隔週6回で始まった。僕は現代物理学に関しては、アインシュタインから入ってしまったので、空間と時間は分離できないと思っていたが、ブラックホールを量子化する際には、空間と時間を分けて考えないとうまくいかないらしい。逆に量子力学から物理学を深く学んだ人は、空間：3次元、時間：1次元で考えるのが、スタンダードらしいから、どのような概念を持っているのかは科学哲学は大きく左右される。そもそも時間とは何なのか全く手がかりが無いのだから、空間と時間が本質的に同じものなのかどうかも分からない。僕たちは、空間に存在する複数の物質は同時に見ることができるが、時間が異なる物質同士を同時に見ることはできない。つまり、今の僕と1時間前の僕の状態を同時に見ることはできない。そう考えると、時間というのは何か特殊なものなのだと直感的に感じることができる。一体、時間とは何なのだろう。一体、何から時間は生まれるのだろう。超ひも理論やループ量子重力理論が、その謎を解き明かしてくれるのだろうか、それも今の僕には想像することができない。
